My paintings are abstracts which retain traces of their original forms. I like looking for satisfying equivalents that can release poetic ideas and I explore the emotional effects of using intense colours and rich textures. The dreamy, chunky forms I use are intended to suggest rather than state the original idea. They are often linked to water, bathing and the sea. These things represent transience and fragility to me. My work also betrays a deep longing for the hot, languid south.
